Out today is the latest offering from Dead Canaries: a double album download called Golden Sounds/Modern Day Carpetbagger. Roll up yr sleeves and get listening, cos you’re in for an extra helping of psychedelic serenades as only Mr. Fink can present them! Here’s what Jon has to say about his newest brainchildren:

These albums are the Let It Be and Abbey Road of the Dead Canaries’ catalog.  One being pieced together after a soured friendship/collaboration and the other arranged, recorded and ripened over a long weekend.

Golden Sounds was recorded during the summer that wouldn’t come in Ithaca, New York. Before anyone could make it to the swimming holes, the sun would be stuck, again, behind 100 miles of clouds, blowing through the sky at 20 miles an hour. And like a book where relating to the main character becomes too great to bear, Golden Sounds was put on the golden shelves and collected digital dust and digitally fermented.

After crossing the Mason-Dixon, the Mississippi River, and transcending time, in a musical conceptual kind of way, Modern Day Carpetbagger was recorded over a long weekend of reading John Wilmot.  It’s hard to explain what this album is expressing, but like everything, it’s something, but it’s also something else.

So a year after Something Else “tiptoed into greatness”, Golden Sounds and Modern Day Carpetbagger hope to continue in the tradition of Dead Canaries greatness.  We hope you enjoy them.

Ah, how sweet it is to be able to post more than one new update in a month! Up this Wednesday, 27 January is a Dead Canaries double album. The two new offerings from Mr. Fink are entitled Golden Sounds and Modern Day Carpetbagger, so keep yr eyes glued to this space and make sure you grab the downloads FOR FREE in the artists section!

Much to the dismay of those in the know, Tofu Delux has been on hiatus for quite a while, but that doesn’t stop their individual members from getting creative. Bad Cello is the name donned by Zeno, the melodically inclined, multi-talented singer/guitarist of the Tofus, and rest assured, the dreamy psychedelia continues to flow. Minimal guitar/vocal arrangements backed with occasional strings and synths provide perfect listening for a quiet winter’s day.
